Maggie solo

The Southport date in December 2013 will now be Maggie solo; it was originally planned to be a double bill with Shelagh McDonald but it turns out that unfortunately Shelagh cannot be there after all.

Derroll's Dream

There's a further performance of Derroll's Dream planned for March 2012, in Antwerp, the city that was Derroll's home for the last thirty years of his life.

Derroll's Dream is a major project devised and directed by Louis (Wiet) van der Liest as a tribute to Derroll Adams. It features seven female singers (including Maggie, who also plays the banjo), Wiet playing violin and Roland on guitar, accompanied by a baroque chamber orchestra. Performances will take place at Brosella festival, the Gentse Feest and Dranouter festival in the summer of 2010.

Bones

(2007) An archaeological excavation of Maggie's earlier recorded works has resulted in a compilation called "Bones" that includes tracks from Still Pause ( 1983), A Short Cut (1986), Down To the Bone ( 1993) and some previously unreleased stuff.....also a new recording of "Place Called England". Something different

Dec 13th 2007 in Edinburgh. The enigmatic trio of Stac Lee made their debut appearance during the launch of Malcolm Ross's retrospective CD - Malcolm Ross on vox and guitar, Russell Burn on drums, and Maggie on vox and bass.

Edinburgh Stop the War

There's a public meeting on Tuesday 15th August, 2006, 7.30pm organised by the Edinburgh Stop the War group. It's in Lecture Theatre 1 at the David Hume Tower, Edinburgh University (nr George Square).

G8 Alternatives

The concert called "Traditions of resistance" took place in the Queen's Hall, Edinburgh on July 2nd, 2005. In the afternoon Maggie, Mr H (kilted up for the occasion!) and Robb Johnson mingled on the Meadows with the approx 0.25 million who were waiting to go on the Make Poverty History march, listening to speeches and music, eating chips etc. Lots of Greens, Reds, religious people, clowns - even belly-dancers for trade justice (with the slogan across their bellies!) The weather was fantastic. The concert featured Maggie, Leon Rosselson, Robb Johnson, David Rovics, Phamie Gow and Alistair Hulett. Attila the Stockbroker was sadly unable to attend due to his mother being poorly, but Fatima did a great job as MC. The march had been subjected to a lot of delay, so the concert started a little late and the audience were somewhat footsore, sunburnt and weary but it was a tremendous evening. Everyone played/sang out of their socks and Leon's singing of "The World Turned Upside-Down" even had everyone roaring along with the verses.

Tsunami ceilidh dosh

Tiger Moth, Billy Bragg (with acoustic Blokes), the Oysters, Eliza Carthy, and the Gloworms plus several surprise guests and Morris dancers did a benefit evening for tsunami survivors on Saturday 23rd April 2005 at the Forum in Kentish Town, London. A great time was had by all.....................and a cheque for a tad over £5000 has just ( 02/06/05 ) been dispatched to Action Aid for their tsunami reconstruction work.

Bob fest

There was a cameo appearance by the English Country Blues Band (Ian Anderson, Rod Stradling, Ben Mandelson and Maggie Holland) at "A Toast to Bob" (that's Bob as in Copper) on Saturday April 2nd 2005 at C# House in London. Approximately £3500 was raised for the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library.

Morris dancing

Priory Morris, a mixed border side based at St Osyth in Essex, have asked Maggie's permission to use the tune of "A Place Called England" as the tune for a Border Morris dance. (Granted!)

Tiger Moth Re-formed!

During the summer of 2004 the semi-legendary Tiger Moth re-formed for a bit of festival madness. The band last did a gig in 1989 and since then suffered the loss of its inimitable drummer John Maxwell, who died in July 2002.

Original members Rod Stradling (melodeon), Jon Moore (guitar), Ian Anderson (slide guitar), Chris Coe (hammered dulcimer), and Maggie Holland on bass were joined by Hijaz Mustapha (mostly electric bouzouki) and Fran Wade (fiddle). Gordon Potts called the dances. Much energy was expended by band and dancers in Camden, Womad (Reading) and Sidmouth International's 50th year.
